We're already moving on from Attack of the Vine, and our attention is now firmly placed upon Hyperia City, a set that is taking us to the world of Coco for the very first time in Disney Lorcana.
This latest Lorecast showed us that this set is going to be full of songs and singers, while also introducing a brand-new mechanic to the game in the form of Ink Drops.
So, let's take you through everything revealed during the livestream so you know exactly what to expect from Hyperia City and the teases we also got for Into the Inkdark and Cosmic Quest.
Across the two previous sets to have a prerelease kit, there has been a random collectible included with the product. These were postcards for Wilds Unknown and movie-style posters for Attack of the Vine. Now, the decision has been made to have the same collectible in every prerelease kit for Hyperia City, and it will be a map of the location for the set.
One Iconic for Hyperia City has already been confirmed in the form of Mickey Mouse, Best in Town, but we now know the second Iconic for the set will be Cinderella, Unintentional Icon.
This card costs seven ink to cast and can be used in your inkwell. She has four strength and six willpower while also having a Shift cost of five ink. The card has one ability called Bespoke Design, which states that, at the end of your turn, you may look at the top two cards of your deck and put one on the top or bottom while the other goes into your inkwell face down and exerted.
We haven't had too many huge new mechanics added to Lorcana in its short lifespan, but Ink Drops feel like they're exactly that. An Ink Drop is a consumable ink that can be used to pay for any ink costs demanded by cards or abilities. They are generated via card abilities, and there are a ton of unique ways that cards will interact with them beyond just creating them.
Some cards have additional triggers if you spend an Ink Drop to cast them, while others may have triggers if you have Ink Drops in play at any given time. There are only two designs of Ink Drop cards so far, but if this mechanic becomes as integral as I think it will, this will soon expand.
