The Careful What You Wish For quest in Onimusha: Way of the Sword sends you searching for three stolen Stout Pillars hidden around the village. These strange stone idols are three of the Eight Stout Pillars. These are powerful brothers who once protected the Hachidai Rikison shrine.
The Genma have taken the Eldest, Third, and Seventh Stout Pillars from their shrine and hidden them in different parts of the area. Shizuka can sense their presence, but her ability is not precise enough to simply reveal their exact hiding spots. During Careful What You Wish For, you’ll be asked to investigate the Hachidai Rikison shrine and find Five of the Eight Stout Pillars. These statues are more than ordinary idols. They are said to possess formidable strength, and the Genma have interfered with the shrine by using Malice to deceive humans and make them take away three of the brothers.
The three missing Stout Pillars are the Eldest, Third, and Seventh kin. Finding all three matters because returning them to the shrine lets the Stout Pillars lend their power to Musashi and moves the story toward the next major encounter.
To find the three stolen Stout Pillars, look through the map and main UI overlay. The general zones holding each pillar are marked with a distinct main quest icon.
The quest markers are useful, but they do not always show the exact route to a statue. If a marker appears to lead toward a locked door or an inaccessible location, look around the nearby buildings rather than assuming the objective is bugged.
The Stout Pillars are surprisingly talkative, and their voices become a reliable way to confirm that the search area is correct. If a pillar starts calling for help, slow down and search the immediate surroundings.
The Seventh Stout Pillar is the first missing brothers you can find. Head toward the quest marker shown on the map and clear out the Genma in the area.
