Hondo not only has to bridge the generational divide, but he also must manage clashing personalities and turn the group into a capable team while working to save the program that shaped his career. Alongside Ronen Rubinstein (9-1-1), Lucy Barrett (Charmed reboot), Adain Bradley (Riverdale), Zyra Gorecki (La Brea), and Freddy Miyares (the miniseries When They See Us) in new roles, returning cast members Jay Harrington (David "Deacon" Kay) and Patrick St. Esprit (Commander Robert Hicks) will also appear.
S.W.A.T. Season 8 saw several high-stakes storylines, including Devin Gamble's familial crisis, the 20-Squad tackling cartel kidnappings and museum robberies, and Ameer Riles placing a $1 million bounty on Hondo's head. It led to an explosive two-part finale where the Russian mercenaries known as Red Sword plant explosives across LA and attack the S.W.A.T. headquarters. Thanks to high production costs and licensing disagreements with Sony Television, CBS canceled S.W.A.T. after its eighth season. However, S.W.A.T.
