Resident Evil: Revelations 3 Leak Reveals First Look At Yuri

Resident Evil fans claim to have uncovered textures for Yuri, a character from the canceled Revelations 3 game, hiding in the Resident Evil 4 remake's PS5 disc.

“These are actually files belonging to a character named ‘Yuri’ from another Capcom game called ‘Project Highway,’ which was supposedly meant to be Resident Evil Revelations 3,” Nexus mods author Keff0 posted. “The character’s mesh was included in the PC version of RE4 Remake, but the textures weren’t. However, the textures were properly included in the PS5 disc files. So I was able to restore more of the character using the leftovers Capcom left behind in the remake.”

While it’s always worth taking claims like these with a grain of salt, it’s plausible that Revelations 3 assets would be found in the Resident Evil 4 remake, as both were developed using Capcom's RE Engine. Project Highway was also reportedly intended to launch between Village and RE4, meaning the two projects would have overlapped in development. Keff0 is also known for restoring cut content, like Chapter 0, lending more credence to the leak. Whatever the case, the community now appears to have both pieces of the puzzle, giving us our best look at Yuri yet.

Yuri is one of the more extensively documented characters from the canceled Revelations 3, thanks in part to former Albert Wesker actor D.C. Douglas, who was fired after allegedly breaking NDA and leaking development material in 2021. Included was an audition script, in which Yuri rescues an injured Wesker (going by the codename ‘Michael Baxter’) and brings him to Scorpio, a female crime boss.

Reputable leaker Dusk Golem reported earlier this year that Revelations 3 directly followed the events of Code Veronica, which would explain Wesker’s injuries. “I hear you actually played as the Scorpio team members, like Yuri & Ralph being two names/models that leaked, working under a boss named Michael, who used a sword rather than a gun, & had weird superhuman powers,” he explained.

Capcom reportedly planned to launch Revelations 3 in 2022, but canceled the project to focus on the Resident Evil Village expansion. What little we do know comes courtesy of leftover assets found in RE4 Remake, the leaked audition script, and various insider reports.

So, this new leak offers one of our clearest glimpses yet into the project, finally restoring a lost Resident Evil protagonist. One who, apparently, looks a lot like Slim Shady.

Whether Capcom ever revisits elements of Project Highway remains to be seen. But with the Code Veronica remake now in full swing and due to launch next year, the studio is at least heading back towards the era in which Revelations 3 was reportedly set.
