Woodcutter Jacob has found a weeping and bleeding tree that Geralt needs to look into in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. This begins the side quest "A Knight's Tales", which has more outcomes than you might think, but first, you'll need to do very specific things and select the correct dialogue options. If you want the best choices in A Knight's Tales, you can use this complete walkthrough.
Head to Castel Ravello Vineyard, which is north of the Corvo Bianco Vineyard and the Chuchote Cave. When you arrive, head to the noticeboard and pick up the Needed: Master Magicker! note. This will send you to the nearby woods to speak with Woodcutter Jacob, who is investigating a bleeding tree. Speak with Jacob to accept the contract, and examine the tree, the bloodied stone, and the stump nearby.
When Jacob sends you to Lynx Crag, it's vitally important that you read the Tales and Fables book he gave you, as this will open up optional dialogue later in the quest that unlocks the good ending.
Head northwest of Castel Ravello to find Lynx Crag, but don't climb the exterior. Instead, enter the cave below to find Kikimores (and their eggs, which can be burned with Igni). From inside the cave, face south, where you can climb up to find a chest. To the right of the chest is a skeleton that you can interact with to get Sir Gareth's Bone.
With Sir Gareth's Bone collected, head up to Lynx Crag and enter the hut. There are some optional items to examine and read with your Witcher Senses, but none of these matter or add anything to the quest. Just interact with the bear pelt on the wall and examine the kerchief.
You will then be confronted by the Witch of Lynx Crag, and it's essential that you select the optional dialogue: "What happened to Sir Gareth, the knight?" Failing to do so will result in Daphen becoming a Wraith at the end of the quest. Now, you have three choices to make:
You should tell the witch, "Just lift the curse. Please?" then select "I'll humble myself." Finally, click "Fine. Got a deal." This will open up the best possible ending for the quest, where Jacob doesn't die, Daphne's spirit moves on and doesn't become a Wraith, and Geralt avoids an unnecessary fight with a Witch.
With the Witch of Lynx Crag now dealt with, head back to Jacob and tell him it's time to begin the ritual to free Daphne. You will need to light the fires in the order shown on your objective markers, which then results in a cutscene with Daphne emerging from the tree as a ghost. She will ask if Gareth's love for her is gone, and if he stayed true.
