Solo Leveling, one of the biggest anime franchises in the modern era, didn't release any new anime content in 2026. Instead, all the focus went to the upcoming video game release, titled Solo Leveling: Karma. Solo Leveling: Karma is releasing sometime in 2026, and with Netmarble's presence at the latest Japanese gaming event, Tokyo Gaming Show, we now have new footage for the upcoming Solo Leveling game.
In this new footage, we can officially see Jinwoo unleash new Shadow abilities that we've never seen before, expanding his arsenal of abilities even further. Specifically, Jinwoo can be seen tapping into two new ultimate Shadow attacks. One in combination with his flying shadow wyvern Kaisel, and the other is performed with the help of one of his strongest underlings, the former Ant King, Beru. More ultimate attacks are set to be revealed with the rest of his Shadow legion.
Fans were excited for September 17, 2026, as on that day, Netmarble went on to hold a stage for its biggest Solo Leveling project yet, titled “Solo Leveling: Karma.” The stage took place during the Tokyo Gaming Show over a couple of days. The 17th was the most awaited day, with the reveal of a new trailer, but subsequent days until the 21st were also exciting. On September 18, 2026, we got new in-game footage from Karma, giving us a ton of new content to get excited about. Since Solo Leveling: Karma takes place in the dimensional crack where Jinwoo is all alone for the long duration of 27 years, it heavily focuses on Jinwoo and his Shadow Army. Through new gameplay footage, we now know that Jinwoo is receiving new powerful abilities based on his Shadow Army. His new abilities see him combine his powers with those of his Shadows to create brand-new attacks.
In the new footage, we saw Jinwoo use his power together with two of his Shadows. His first ultimate attack was in collaboration with Kaisel. Kaisel is the shadow of Kaisellin, extracted from the body of Baran’s Wyvern mount. In the cutscene for this ultimate attack, Jinwoo uses a bow and arrow to shoot projectiles into the sky, while Kaisel takes off in the air and spits fiery attacks at enemies. This results in a barrage of projectiles landing on Jinwoo's enemies.
The second Shadow we've seen Jinwoo combine with to launch a deadly strike is Beru. Beru is Jinwoo's latest shadow in the anime, extracted from the body of the Ant King, the main antagonist of the Jeju Island arc. Attacking hand in hand with Beru, Jinwoo rushes forward at incredible speeds to break through enemies and land powerful strikes.
Solo Leveling Karma sees Jinwoo restart his journey from the very beginning, having to rise back to the top to save the lives lost. The only advantage he has in this new timeline is his prior knowledge of events, abilities, and enemies, and most importantly, his Shadows. While he starts weaker, he eventually ends up far stronger than ever. In Solo Leveling: Karma, Jinwoo has to become stronger than ever, because the threat that he faces is on a whole new scale. With no outside help, Jinwoo has to overcome all the Monarchs single-handedly, and these Monarchs now have newfound knowledge about Jinwoo and his army. Their counterstrike begins almost immediately, and to defeat them, Jinwoo has to power up alongside his Shadow Army.
Jinwoo is set up to gain many new power-ups in Karma, and as seen with Kaisel and Beru, he will soon be treated to many more combo attacks with his Shadows. Among all the new combinations that are in store, the team-up we’re excited for is that of Jinwoo and Igris. Igris is Jinwoo’s very first Shadow, so the game must have something special in store for him. Other Shadows to be featured will include Tusk and Tank, and of course, we can expect his most powerful Shadow to team up with him, that being the Grand Marshall Shadow, Bellion.
The shadow army of Sung Jinwoo is, in general, set up to play a far bigger role in Solo Leveling: Karma than it has done in the original story. This is because, in this arc, Sung Jinwoo is stuck 27 years in the dimensional crack, and he only has his legion to fall back on. This will open up the opportunity for more power-ups among his Shadows, as well as more character moments. We could even see Sung Jinwoo acquire brand-new Shadows through his Solo Leveling Karma run. This is especially a strong possibility as he loses the Shadow of Iron, whom he extracted from Kim Chul, and the Shadow of Greed, whom he extracted from Hwang Dong-Su. They are lost in the rewind because they are originally humans, unlike the other Shadows that he extracted from beasts and monsters.
