There’s still one major annual event left for Pokemon GO in 2026, but the popular mobile title has already staked its claim on 2027. This week, Scopely Explore revealed the dates for Pokemon GO Tour 2027, both for its two in-person events and for the Global edition that will follow.
Pokemon GO Tour 2027 will include an in-person version in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, California, beginning on February 19, 2027, and running until February 21st. This will mark the fourth consecutive year that GO Tour has been held in Los Angeles and the third consecutive year for Taiwan. The only difference is that those four years were all held in Los Angeles – specifically, the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena – the events in Taiwan have had different host cities. It’s unclear if GO Tour 2027 will also take place at the Rose Bowl, but it seems likely.
Of course, Pokemon GO players who can’t make the trip out to the sunny West Coast of the US or to Kaohsiung, Taiwan will be able to enjoy almost all of what the event has to offer when the Global Edition launches on February 27 and 28th.
As far as what players can expect for Pokemon GO Tour 2027, Scopely Explore is only willing to confirm that this will be an Alola-themed Tour. That means the focus will be on Pokemon seen in Pokemon Sun and Moon, as well as Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
At the very least, Pokemon GO players should expect to see both Solgaleo and Lunala raids during the GO Tour event, and presumably that will also include Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane Necrozma. Both Lunala and Solgaleo recently received shiny versions in Pokemon GO, so this should also be a great opportunity to try to get at least one of each, assuming that shiny drop rates are boosted during the event.
Beyond that, the BIG TICKET items for Pokemon GO Tour 2027 are anyone’s guess, but it’s possible that Scopely Explore dropped a little hint in its “Save the Date” message. They said, “We’re excited for another ultra fun year with you!” with an emphasis on ultra. Some are taking this bit to mean that Pokemon GO Tour 2027 will see the introduction of Ultra Necrozma to the game, which is a fair guess given the phrasing and the focus on Alola.
I could see Ultra Necrozma being the featured raid target during the event and shiny Marshadow being the shiny mythical on offer through a special timed research, like shiny Diancie was this year. The other possibility is that the featured raid target is Mega Zeroara, but this year has put a lot of focus on Mega Raids, specifically the new Super Mega Raids, so it feels more likely that Pokemon GO would switch things up.
Assuming that it is Ultra Necrozma, it will be interesting to see how strong it is and whether Pokemon GO finds a way to put any sort of limitation on it (i.e. only having one Ultra form at a time). I could see there being timed research that only offers one Ultranecrozium Z, which would turn your Dawn Wings or Dusk Mane Necrozma into Ultra Necrozma. Essentially, it would function a lot like the Meteorite does for Rayquaza - allowing it to learn Dragon Ascent and then Mega Evolve. And if Pokemon GO does give Ultra Necrozma Photon Geyser, it will likely be the new strongest overall raid attacker in Pokemon GO, unseating Mega Mewtwo Y with Future Sight+.
