Black Clover was once one of the best new-gen anime series around, being regarded as one of the hottest 2010s series for Weekly Shonen Jump. Black Clover's anime, which initially debuted in 2017, found great success immediately. However, as fans know, this series has been on hiatus since 2021, largely due to Yuki Tabata's health slowing down the manga, which in turn meant that Studio Pierrot did not have enough content to continue the anime.
Now with the manga over, the studio has room to bring Asta's story to completion. Black Clover Season 2 was announced at Anime Expo 2025. On September 3, 2026, Studio Pierrot and Shueisha officially announced the release date for Black Clover Season 2. It's now been confirmed that the series is premiering on October 3, 2026, and we're all eager to see what Studio Pierrot has in store for us.
Black Clover is undoubtedly one of the most popular magical action shonen series. Since its debut, it has enjoyed quite a remarkable run. Sadly, on March 30, 2021, Black Clover released what would be its final episode for quite some time. Black Clover Episode 170 was followed by a big hiatus. It's been 5 long and excruciating years since this break, and a lot has changed. Previously, the slow manga progression by Yuki Tabata led to the anime slowing down as well. But the anime can now continue and finish the story, as the manga finally concluded on May 1, 2026, in Jump GIGA’s 2026 Spring Edition with Chapter 392.
Fans have been eager for Black Clover's return ever since the initial announcement of the new anime season in July 2025 at Anime Expo. On June 14, 2026, we received a new update for Black Clover Season 2, and it was confirmed that the series would be coming to broadcast and streaming services in October 2026. However, until today, we did not know exactly when Black Clover would be airing. With that being said, on September 3, 2026, it was officially announced that Black Clover season 2 Episode 1 will be airing on October 3, 2026. After a long wait, Black Clover's new episodes are finally ahead of us.
For fans who don't want to wait until October, there is a chance to see the first episode slightly earlier. On September 21, 2026, Crunchyroll will hold an Anime Night Event in theaters across North America, which allows a limited number of fans to view the first episode of Black Clover Season 2, previously also seen during Black Clover’s Stage at Anime Expo 2026. We also have official confirmation of the opening and ending songs that will be included for Black Clover's new installment. The opening is a song titled ‘Kienai Riyuu’ by WANIMA, and the ending is ‘One or Eight’ by Yellow Brick Road.
Black Clover's anime is completely changing upon its return. When Black Clover first debuted on October 3, 2017, all the way until it went on hiatus on March 30, 2021, the anime followed a weekly release pattern. We received new episodes on a weekly basis that often featured subpar animation as well as bad pacing. This naturally brought the overall quality of the series down greatly. Even with 170 episodes, the anime of Black Clover is still not even done with its previously ongoing Spade Kingdom Raid arc.
Now, however, with Black Clover Season 2, all these problems are going to be fixed. Studio Pierrot, the creators behind Black Clover as well as other massive series like Naruto and Bleach, are taking a completely different approach. Black Clover is now seasonal, and as was the case with Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War, we are going to see animation and direction upgraded to levels never seen before for the series.
Once we dive into Black Clover Season 2 on October 3, 2026, we are going to be treated to a return to the Spade Kingdom Raid arc, which also happens to be one of the Black Clover fans’ favorite arcs. That is largely because it features some of the best villain groups of the whole series — the Dark Triad, and it sees the overarching lore being expanded tremendously. The battles ahead are going to raise the stakes, and the reveal of new Devils is going to keep us all on edge.
