Genma Notes are a set of hidden collectibles in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. These collectibles contain information about the game’s enemies and bosses in the game, but they are not marked on the map like most other activities. There are 23 Genma Notes in total, and each one is hidden inside a chest that has to be revealed using Oni Vision. This guide covers every Genma Note location, from the streets of Kyoto to Mount Oe, Arashiyama, and the Underground Laboratory in Onimusha WoTS.
Genma Notes are hidden collectibles that can be found throughout the main regions of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Unlike many other activities, their locations are not automatically marked on the map. So, you’ll have to explore thoroughly, especially when returning to areas where Musashi has already fought a boss.
To find these collectibles, you’ll have to use your Oni Vision. When approaching a hidden chest, the gauntlet begins to glow, indicating that a nearby chest can be revealed. Use Oni Vision in the area to make the chest appear, then open it to collect the Genma Note.
Most of the notes can be collected before the final mission, “The Clash At Rendaino.” However, Genma Note #23 is only available after defeating the final boss. If the goal is to collect everything in one playthrough, it is a good idea to keep a manual save before the point of no return.
The table below lists all 23 Genma Notes in order, along with the area and the exact location to look for the hidden chest.
West of the Higashioji Street Spirit Mirror. Use Oni Vision to reveal the hidden chest.
South of the Kamo River East Spirit Mirror. Look for the hidden chest and use Oni Vision.
In a small courtyard near Yorimasa’s Monument.
