Towards the end of the Wano Country arc, Luffy managed to awaken his powerful Devil Fruit that fans knew to be the Gomu Gomu no Mi throughout the vast of the One Piece series. In chapter 1044 of One Piece, it was revealed by the Gorosei that Luffy had actually eaten a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, called the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This Devil Fruit is known to have been incredibly overpowered and, as such, the World Government tried acquiring it for centuries, yet it evaded them every single time. Its powers have now been truly awakened, and it has been labeled as the most ridiculous power to ever exist for several reasons, granting Luffy some special abilities.
One of the most interesting things about Luffy's Devil Fruit is that it can turn anything around him into rubber. Typically, this is a power that is demonstrated by the Paramecia-type Devil Fruits. For instance, Doflamingo was able to turn the world around him into strings. Similarly, Katakuri was able to turn the world around him into mochi. Yet Luffy, despite being a Zoan, is able to exhibit the same Devil Fruit properties through his awakening.
Why this is the case is not known just yet. This surprised even Kaido, one of the Yonko of the Sea. In fact, Luffy is able to take this ability to another level by changing the properties of living things with it as well, as seen with Kaido. No other person has ever demonstrated Awakening on live humans.
Being a Mythical Zoan means awakening grants an overpowered transformation. According to Kaido, all the users of Zoan Devil Fruits, when awakened, gain a special transformation. This was seen with Luffy, as he gained an all-white form, and fans know it better as Gear 5.
In this form, Luffy grows tremendously strong and gains enough power to take on even the likes of Yonko Kaido in combat. This transformation allowed him to best the Yonko in combat, and that alone is reason enough for this power to be absolutely ridiculous.
Thanks to his body being rubber, Luffy can alter it as he likes. In the fight against Kaido atop Onigashima, Luffy was able to turn himself into a Giant within mere seconds. As fans might remember, previously, Luffy required inflation to access the powers of a giant with Gear Third.
In Gear Fifth, he does not need to inflate his body, as he can immediately turn it into that of a Giant. In fact, his body is actually much larger than that of a normal Giant, as it was towering over Kaido's dragon form, which in itself is extremely massive. Luffy also used this Giant form in Elbaf.
The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika is a ridiculous power in more ways than one, as mentioned earlier. Not only can it affect Luffy's surroundings and the people around him, but it can also allow him to become a literal natural disaster. Luffy can turn anything around him into rubber, and this includes the forces of nature as well.
