Onimusha: Way of the Sword - Dohatsu-ten Boss Guide

Sometimes it’s not the biggest encounters that give you the most trouble. That is the case with the Dohatsu-ten boss fight in Onimusha: Way of the Sword. This humanoid Genma comes out of a rift, like Byakue, but unlike Byakue, he is one of the hardest encounters you will find early on.

Dohatsu-ten is fast, ruthless and unrelenting, not giving you an inch to breathe. It’s surprising given he’s a minor encounter in general, but every attack he does greatly benefits him, especially if he connects. He has two full stages because of it, each of which is harder than the last. Thankfully, we have a guide to help you with taking him down and progressing the story.

One of the first ones you will likely get used to, Dohatsu-ten will unleash a three-hit combo with kicks and the final attack will be a surprise. It will either be a flying back kick or a slash with his blade.

When Dohatsu-ten powers up, he will dash to Musashi and do two kicks, a parryable thrusting attack or a kick into the sky.

If at a range, Dohatsu-ten will sometimes posture down and then throw a ranged slash attack.

Being a humanoid boss, Dohatsu-ten will occasionally block. If you hit him too many times, he will break your stance and attack. Be sure to use the stance-breaking attack to leave him vulnerable.

A quick but hard to deflect roundhouse attack.

The boss will teleport to your side and quickly slash.
