You won’t be screaming “objection” with your PSVR2 headset equipped next year, as AMATA Games has decided not to release its virtual reality version of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies for Sony’s headset.
Announced for the Meta Quest and new Meta VR Glasses overnight, this is an adaptation of the fifth main entry in Capcom’s courtroom battle series, developed under license. It’s due out in 2027.
“Step into the courtroom in virtual reality and interact with suspicious witnesses and questionable evidence to prove your client’s innocence. Deliver your OBJECTION! face-to-face like never before!”
It goes on to say that the game will feature voice detection so you can scream out your “objections” like in a real court of law, and you’ll also be able to examine evidence in 3D space using full hand-tracking and motion controls.
I suppose the fact that this adaptation is skipping PSVR2 isn’t a huge surprise, considering Sony’s headset feels a bit like a footnote on the PS5 generation these days. It’s likely Meta is also helping to facilitate the release of this.
It is a miss for the platform, though – even if you can already play a pancake version of Dual Destinies via the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy available on the PS4.
