New GTA 6 Leak Is Worrying For Potential Story Spoilers

There's been a lot of speculation over how much of GTA 6 the hacker actually has access to. We know they have a playable build of the game, not just footage, as they wrote their name onto a wall with bullets, but whether they were locked to one area or a smaller slice of the story has been widely debated. Mainly because they have only been playing as Jason in the videos posted to their website. However, a new leak shows an interesting pop-up at the end, "Return to Lucia."

It appears that the hacker can progress through the story, which means spoilers may very well be on the table. That changes things. Take-Two Interactive is now racing against the clock, as the risk of story-heavy cutscenes being leaked online is much higher, including the ending. This also comes amid rumors that CyberLeek has a dead man's switch in place, meaning that if they get caught, a playable build may be uploaded online for others to download and disseminate. And once something is on the internet, it's near impossible to completely scrub it.

We won't share the video here, but it shows Jason driving to a gas station, where he then steals a pickup truck while its driver is busy refueling. Jason struggles briefly with the driver, who tries to pull him back out, and then runs the pickup truck back over him.

Some believe the footage shows the man's leg coming off, hinting at a dismemberment system, though it could also be folding over. After the commotion, Jason floors into oncoming traffic and the truck explodes, killing him instantly. After the 'Wasted' fade to black, he wakes up in a public restroom, where the 'Return to Lucia' prompt can be seen.

The pressure was already on, as Take-Two recently subpoenaed Microsoft and Discord records in an all-hands-on-deck investigation into the hacker, but now that it appears they can continue through the story, tensions will inevitably be soaring. If the ending, or any major twists in the game, are revealed ahead of launch, that's a significantly bigger dent than gameplay details — the kind of stuff likely to be shown in the Netflix reveal, anyway. Not quite the "nothing burger" that Rockstar veteran Obbe Vermeij described the current string of leaks as.
