A man has come under fire after offering to trade his dog for Pokemon cards at a trading card event, with some collectors saying it has become increasingly common.
Over the last few years, collecting Pokemon cards has become all the rage again for a lot of people. Many have dug out their childhood collections to see if they’ve got a windfall hidden away, while others have entered the scene by focusing on newer cards.
Some collectors, like Logan Paul, have gone big. The YouTuber has admitted to spending over $10 million to build up his “gangster” collection, while others have used the cards to fund the purchase of homes.
However, one man has come unde fire after being caught offering to trade his dog for cards during a recent card show.
The offer was captured by collector PICKLEQW33N, who said she’s seen videos of people offering to trade dogs for cards, but then experienced it herself.
She offered the man a Snubbull card to celebrate his French Bulldogs, but was quickly offered an actual trade. “It’s for sale,” he can be heard saying. “I’ll trade ‘em for a card.” PICKLEQW33N laughed it off and called it “crazy,” before the man told her that they were for sale for $4000.
“I think it’s unethical. Like, selling a dog like that, how do you know that the person you’re giving the dog to is a good home?” she asked shortly after the interaction. “You’re just trading cardboard for a living, breathing animal. Crazy.”
