The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone adds enchanting, which allows you to add bonuses to your armor and weapons that you won't find elsewhere. However, enchanting can be a pretty complicated process, especially since it's going to require a costly investment. Below, we'll show you everything you need to know about the enchanting quests and process, and help you see if it's worth your Crowns and time.
Once you own the Hearts of Stone expansion, head to the Upper Mill camp (as shown on the map above) and speak with the Runewright, an Ofieri mage found inside the tent just to the left of Dulla kh'Amanni, the shopkeeper. This will start "Enchanting: Start-up Costs", where you can generously provide the Runewright with 5,000 Crowns.
Once you give the Runewright 5,000 Crowns, he will ask you to get some Jade for him. You'll need to grab the Pickaxe in the nearby barn, then head to Bloodrot Pit (the middle objective marked on the map), where, inside, you'll find Arachnomorphs and the Jade to be mined.
You can also find a corpse with a letter and a Bent Key, which starts The Drakenborg Redemption side quest, also in the cave!
Return to the Runewright and give him the Jade, and you will unlock Level 1 Enchantments. However, if you want to unlock Level 2 Enchantments, you need to invest a further 10,000 Crowns, and if you want to unlock Level 3 Enchantments, that's a whopping 15,000 Crowns.
If you have the Crowns, then yes, the Runwright is extremely worth the investment. The Enchantments that you can buy from the Runwright make a notable improvement to your Vitality, Adrenaline Points, and damage, and we'll provide the Enchantments below so you can see why you might want to use them.
Using Runewords and Glyphwords will destroy the upgrades already placed into your swords and armor.
Consuming food regenerates 400% more Vitality.
