Unreleased Family Guy Game From Disney Universe Devs Uncovered

A prototype build of a bizarre Family Guy game for Xbox 360 that was being developed by Eurocom has been recovered and made playable.

Although it’s been a long time since the Griffin family graced consoles, you’d be surprised at just how many Family Guy video games there are. We’ve had the aptly titled Family Guy Video Game on PS2, the underrated Back to the Multiverse on PS3, and even Family Guy Online, an MMO that let you build a life in Quahog.

Despite the show mostly being made up of cutaway gags and disconnected stories, Family Guy clearly works well enough in the world of gaming. Disney Universe developer Eurocom clearly thought so too, as it was once working on an Xbox 360 game whose prototype has just been uncovered and made playable.

Earlier today, YouTuber Nostalgic Aubrey shared a deep dive into a prototype of the unreleased Family Guy video game. The game was previously included in a huge batch of prototypes released by ObscureGamers all the way back in 2022, but has only just been made playable by Hidden Palace user Gonzo very recently.

The prototype build of the Xbox 360 Family Guy game comes from 2012 and is, funnily enough, running on the Disney Universe engine, which is pretty obvious from the movement and UI. Even with that kid-friendly baseline, Eurocom’s Family Guy game would have featured dismemberment and decapitation, which we see being tested on poor Peter Griffin.

Nostalgic Aubrey’s walkthrough of the clearly very early prototype doesn’t give us much of an idea of what the game would have been about, but it seems to have been aiming for a more adult version of Disney Universe. There’s a chance the final game would have been more unique, but the prototype is basically that game’s mechanics with a Family Guy coat of paint.

It seems that the game would have allowed split-screen co-op, as Stewie Griffin is shown alongside Peter at one point.

As of the time of writing, it’s not clear why Eurocom didn’t end up releasing the Family Guy game, which never even got announced. It’s possible that what’s here was just a pitch that ended up getting rejected, but even if we’ll likely never know the full story, it’s still very interesting to see.
