WoW Forever player creates mod that hides Asmongold’s entire guild

A World of Warcraft: Forever player built a mod that made Asmongold’s army of fans vanish, and the streamer responded.

The mod came to life just days after players called for Asmongold’s ban over his sprawling Olympus guilds, which they accused of turning cities into lag-choked fiefdoms full of spam and slurs. And with WoW Forever grouping players by ruleset instead of realm, simply picking another server was no longer an option, so one player built an emergency exit.

A player named Solastro created OlympusMute and uploaded it to CurseForge on September 23.

The mod automatically hides chat from anyone in a guild with “Olympus” emblazoned in its name. That covers everything from Say and Yell to whispers, Trade chat, and raid warnings, along with chat bubbles in the open world.

It also auto-declines the guild invites being slung at unsuspecting players, as well as group invites, duels, and trades. Once it identifies someone by targeting, nameplate, or a /who scan, it even scrubs their earlier messages from chat windows.

Because it runs client-side, it dodges the ignore list’s 50-name cap entirely, and muted players never received a notification. In fact, the mod’s own preview screenshot showed 361 players silenced, with guild tags climbing as high as Olympus XLI.

The addon then gained traction when WoW partner Morrigan shared it on X with the caption “i’m just gonna leave this here..”, pulling in over 300,000 views in a day. She later tagged Blizzard directly, writing: “it’s time to do something.”
