Minecraft Dungeons II is the newest addition to the Minecraft world, and it's coming in hot with a lot of new stuff. This is the first time a new dimension has been added to Minecraft since The End was introduced in the 1.0 launch.
It’s coming alongside a campaign-focused RPG in Minecraft Dungeons II and promises to be something truly incredible. That’s probably going to be the biggest draw for the game as a whole, and that’s a good thing, because the rest of the game probably needs some work.
After playing for about ten hours and having completed the main story quest along with some end-game content, I can confidently say that Minecraft Dungeons II is more Minecraft Dungeons. For some people, that’s glorious, and for others, it’ll feel a little disappointing.
If you’ve never played the first one, don’t worry; you don’t have to for this game, although it is a direct sequel. You’ll play as a hero, presumably the same one from the first game, as you face off against the Illager High Council.
These Illagers aren’t playing around, and they’ve broken open the dimensional barrier to steal the power of the Sift dimension for their own purposes. Once again, the Overworld is in danger, and you’re going to save it.
This top-down RPG adds a few changes from the original. It’s got more equipment slots and a whole new addition called Talismans. These allow you to have a lot more fine control over your character as you discover the various Enchantments and Legendary Equipment.
You’ll move through the new open-world map to help out various NPCs as you attempt to stop the Illager High Council and return the Overworld and Sift to peace. As you do, you’ll gather gear and recruit allies to help upgrade that gear, helping you to take on greater challenges.
