Game of Thrones fans are no strangers to waiting, as it often seems they are between seasons or releases for everything in the franchise, but fans of Egg from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms have a shorter wait than expected. While that waiting feeling is not literally true for all things Game of Thrones, it's hard not to feel that way when the heart of the series—the novels by George R. R. Martin—has become a legitimate waiting game. It's been 15 years or so since A Dance with Dragons was released, and George R.R. Martin appears no closer to releasing Winds of Winter (not even planned to be the last book).
Still, between the core Game of Thrones series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and House of the Dragon, fans are getting new content on a pretty consistent basis. The rest of 2026 may look pretty slim, but at least for some fans, there's plenty going on in September—namely, those who are playing Game of Thrones: Legends have plenty coming in September, not least of which is Egg's return to the spotlight.
Game of Thrones: Legends is adding a new version of Egg on September 30, with "The Bald Boy Squire" becoming available at midnight PT/3 am ET, as listed on the live-service game's official September calendar. The new Game of Thrones: Legends Champion comes with the skill “I Would Not Leave You Ser,” which focuses on protecting and healing allies. Egg can cleanse harmful debuffs after landing a Critical Heal, grant Block to teammates, heal the entire team when an ally receives a Critical Strike Chance Buff, and retaliate with Fire when an enemy lands a Skill Critical Strike.
The new Egg Champion is arriving as Game of Thrones: Legends continues adding content, but his addition is the finest point on the pen for the month. Melisandre is already available as a new Champion, while Joffrey Baratheon, Protector of the Realm, is scheduled to arrive on September 16. September will also add new Summons featuring Lyanna Mormont and Ned Stark, alongside other familiar Game of Thrones characters, to keep fans engaged throughout the month. For a Game of Thrones game built around pulling characters and stories from across the universe, these updates give Game of Thrones: Legends a fairly easy way to keep things moving while fans wait for the next big thing. Of course, it's not the only one with this approach, as Game of Thrones: Conquest also regularly plays with series lore.
The Bald Boy Squire may not be the same as seeing Egg return to live-action, but it is still a nice reminder that A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is such a big part of the wider Game of Thrones universe. Fans have already spent years waiting for the next pieces of this world, so having characters like Egg, Dunk, and the rest of their story continue appearing in different forms at least gives that wait a little more to chew on.
