Boyar Ambrus is the one in charge of collecting blood for Brencis in Blood of Dawnwalker, and if you want to take him down, you'll first need to disrupt his operations in the northern part of Vale Sangora. Once you make him angry enough, he'll challenge you to a duel, but before that, you'll get a chance to poison Ambrus, causing him to constantly lose health during the fight. If you're not sure what you're supposed to do after dismantling Ambrus' operation, or if you're confused as to why Ambrus isn't dying in Blood of Dawnwalker, here's a guide to help you out.
The first thing you need to do is complete a number of quests/activities in the regions north of Svartrau. By destroying Ambrus' dungeons, blood cellars, transports, and leech collector camps, you'll make him mad, and when he's sufficiently ticked off, you'll find a commotion going on in the village of Maragir to the east.
Visit Maragir, and you'll find that its lord has been crucified by Ambrus. The crowd jeering the dead lord will leave as soon as you talk to them, but a maidservant will speak with you. She'll tell you that her master, Iulian, wants to discourse a matter of great importance.
You don't need to complete all of the quests tied to Ambrus' operation. Just keep an eye on the anger meter below his portrait in the Court menu. If it's full, head straight to Maragir.
Iulian plans to poison Ambrus by drinking poison himself. He's been designated as Ambrus' blood cow before your duel with him begins, which means Ambrus will feast on Iulian to give himself a quick pick-me-up before the fight. If Iulian drinks poison before the duel starts, Ambrus will end up being poisoned, giving you an edge.
In this quest, you'll need to find a woman named Vera, who will prepare the brew for you and Iulian. The steps you need to take here are all fairly simple, and the game will lead you towards all the things you need to find and interact with. However, there are some decisions that you need to make.
Once you collect the lizard parts in the nearby cave after following Vera's bloodtrail, you'll find a Lizard Gland that you can add to the poison concontion. Whether or not you add it has the following consequences:
Whether Iulian survives still depends on one decision you make later, though, so be on your toes for that (of course, we'll be covering that below as well).
