Star Wars Zero Company Mod Lets You Fast Forward Enemy Turns

Star Wars Zero Company Mod Lets You Fast Forward Enemy Turns

Star Wars Zero Company is a great game, but damn, could we do with a few quality-of-life features. Perhaps the most pressing is the ability to speed everything up during combat, as towards the end of the game, it feels like we're left waiting an eternity for the enemy AI to take its turn.

Thankfully, those of us playing on PC can now fast-forward the game whenever it's not our turn. Fast-Forward Enemy Turns by Nexus Mods user Dovahkhiinn allows us to speed things along, making the enemy units carry out their moves much faster. This will be a godsend later on in the story, when entire armies are deployed against you, and it becomes a bit of a slog waiting for every unit to move.

"Press R while the AI is taking its turn to cycle through 2x, 4x, 8x, then back to normal speed. Press it again any time to change," the mod's description reads. "Nothing about the outcome changes. Every action still resolves exactly the way it would have, you just don't sit through the whole thing. Speed goes back to normal on its own the moment your turn starts."

I am very curious to see how this works in action, and will absolutely be implementing it into my current run. As much as I adored Star Wars Zero Company in my review, I felt that the difficulty towards the end wasn't very challenging, but rather, padded out by just throwing greater numbers of enemies at us. They were pretty easy to deal with - and in some cases, could be ignored entirely - but waiting through their turn was always frustrating.

If you are playing Zero Company on PC, you've got plenty of mods to choose from. Some add quality-of-life features like this, while others give us new content altogether, like the huge mod that adds "DLC", giving us some kind of endgame. Another ambitious mod overhauls how injuries work, making the game even more like XCOM.

As for official updates, these are few and far between. Admittedly, that is likely due to the fact that many members of staff were furloughed before launch, as developer Bit Reactor ran out of money. We're yet to hear whether these workers have been brought back on in light of the game's success.
