For non-living help, you have access to classic police officer tools like radar guns, cameras, traffic cones, barriers, and stun guns. You'll also be able to swap out vehicles to suit the task you're completing, as you'll want a different vehicle for patrolling than you would want for transporting suspects.
As you play, you'll rise through the ranks of your career and take on more responsibilities. That also means that you unlock items to use during your new tasks, giving you an incentive to do your best, which isn't always the case in working simulators. Beyond this, there isn't much else known about Police Simulator yet, but that should be changing in the near future.
I see a lot of games that show the intense and exciting parts of being involved with the law, such as Wei Shen's dangerous journey as an undercover cop in Sleeping Dogs or Cole Phelps' rise and fall as a detective in LA Noire. However, working simulators have become quite popular, and that makes sense. Sometimes, you don't want to deal with anything exciting or tense. You just want to relax and complete brainless tasks.
