A new leak has revealed some of the characters that will potentially appear in the unannounced Injustice 3 video game. Injustice 3 has been rumored for years, and for good reason. While NetherRealm Studio may be best known for its work on the Mortal Kombat franchise, its Injustice games have also proven popular over the years. Injustice: Gods Among Us was a big hit, and its sequel, 2017's Injustice 2, was even more successful. Considering this, many have long considered an Injustice 3 release to be a matter of when, not if.
Since launching Injustice 2 in 2017, NetherRealm has kept busy by focusing on its flagship Mortal Kombat franchise. Mortal Kombat 11 released in 2019, while the mobile game Mortal Kombat: Onslaught launched in 2023 alongside Mortal Kombat 1. NetherRealm supported these games extensively with post-launch DLC, but we're now at the point where a reveal for the studio's next game is right around the corner. And if the rumors and leaks are accurate, it seems NetherRealm's next game is none other than the long-awaited Injustice 3.
As spotted by MP1st, a stunt worker's resume has seemingly leaked two characters that will be featured in Injustice 3. The resume confirms that the game they worked on was Injustice 3, and it also states that they worked on two characters specifically: Batwoman and Supergirl. Supergirl played a prominent role in Injustice 2, and while Batwoman has never been featured in the console games, she is playable in the mobile version of Injustice 2.

The inclusion of Batwoman in Injustice 3 would be interesting beyond the fact that it would be her first appearance in the console games. In the Injustice story, Batwoman is already dead by the events of the first game, Gods Among Us, having been killed off in a prequel comic. It's possible that Injustice 3 will feature a multiverse storyline, not unlike NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat games as of late, as that would open the door for dead characters to come back in the story. Of course, dead characters could be featured on the playable roster for versus mode without a problem, so perhaps that's the extent of Batwoman's role in the game. Another possibility is that a different character will be taking on the Batwoman mantle. Until NetherRealm decides to reveal Injustice 3 itself, all fans can do is speculate.

Injustice 3 would presumably have to pick one of the two endings featured in Injustice 2 to build off and effectively canonize. For those that haven't played the game in a while, Injustice 2 ends with the player choosing to side with either Superman or Batman. If players side with Superman, his evil Regime is reformed, Supergirl is imprisoned, and Batman is brainwashed using Brainiac's technology. If players side with Batman, Superman loses his powers and Supergirl joins the Justice League.
It seems like the "bad" ending where Superman wins would make the most sense for a multiverse story. Perhaps Superman variants could arrive in the Injustice universe to help fight against the Regime. Alternatively, it would also be interesting to see an Injustice storyline play out where the Justice League has been reformed and Superman is depowered.
