Epic Games has finally put Five Nights at Freddy’s fans out of their misery and confirmed that some of its most iconic characters are coming to Fortnite. Clearly, this is a collab people have been waiting for, perhaps more than ever before, as less than 24 hours later, its reveal is the most-liked in Fortnite history.
The trailer confirming the good news - which is fantastic and some of Epic’s best work when it comes to Fortnite reveals - not only has 18.6 million views, but also more than 312,000 likes. It’s that second number which makes the FNAF post a record breaker.
Those hundreds of thousands of likes mean the FNAF x Fortnite reveal trailer has secured the crossover the status of most liked tweet in the game’s history. It breaks a record that was set more than four years ago in 2022 when Epic finally confirmed Dragon Ball characters would be coming to the game. The Dragon Ball reveal wound up with 283,000 likes.
There’s no time limit on when you have to stop liking a tweet. If you’re an upset Dragon Ball fan who wants to try and take the record back, go smash that like button.
Fortnite remains in the midst of its Override season. A season dedicated to all things video games, so far crossover characters have included Sonic the Hedgehog and Sora from Kingdom Hearts. A little floored that the KH reveal didn’t get more traffic than FNAF. I guess the crossover between FNAF and Fortnite fans is far greater than it is with Kingdom Hearts, which actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
Even though Freddy Fazbear and the other FNAF characters weren’t shown off in trailers or key art like other gaming icons, it was a known secret that they'd eventually be coming to the game this season. Epic has been teasing their arrival for weeks, even naming an in-game pizzeria after the series.
Not only will the FNAF characters seemingly be skins when they’re added to the game, but they also appear to be boss fights, much like Dr. Robotnik has been during the Override season. There’s no firm date on when the FNAF crossover will begin; however, it has been announced in conjunction with Fortnitemares, Fortnite’s annual Halloween event. That begins on October 11, so it seems likely that’s when the animatronics will arrive.
