When a studio is juggling two game series at once, and in a similar genre, it is inevitable that there will be fan theories about the two actually being connected. We've seen this with the likes of Dragon Age and Mass Effect, since both would make nods to one another. But in the case of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, it isn't just easter eggs that are leading fans to think there's something going on here.
Now that we've had a proper, official look at Grand Theft Auto 6, more fans are starting to see similarities between Jason and Arthur Morgan, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2. These theories were already floating around, but now, they're extended to include Lucia, with some theorising that she and Jason will parallel Arthur and his own love interest, Mary Linton.
The theory basically goes that Jason and Lucia are Arthur and Mary if they had a chance to make it work. Admittedly, "make it work" here pretty much just means "do crimes together", but at least they are together.
In fairness, I can sorta see it with Jason. Not only do they look alike, but many have pointed out that Jason has a very distinctive, Arthur-like voice, particularly compared to the larger-than-life characters around him. As for Lucia, I suppose there is a physical resemblance there, and they both have their beauty marks in a similar spot. Otherwise, I think they might just both be gorgeous brunette women.
Of course, even if they are not literally Arthur and Mary reincarnated, there's a good chance Rockstar has taken some inspiration from the pivotal couple from its last major release. GTA 6 is shaping up to be a love story, just as we saw play out in Red Dead Redemption 2, so there are bound to be parallels.
Speaking of Jason and Lucia's relationship, we did just get some more details on how that will play out. It turns out that we don't have to make the pair romantic, and can have them just be partners in crime. If you do want it to be romantic, then you have to put the work in; don't ignore each other's texts! That is just good advice in general, really.
