A retro-style 3D platformer called Bolmn is free to keep for a very limited time on PC. Although Bolmn was only just released on August 5, its developer has already decided to give the title away to PC gamers completely for free, but there's a catch.
Developed by indie studio The Voices Games, Bolmn features an adorable protagonist that many would consider a Kirby lookalike. It also comes with very minimalistic gameplay mechanics, making it a perfect pick for fans of classic side-scrolling mascot platformers that had no fancy skill-tree systems or power-ups.
EGS users have until August 26 at 6:01 PM to add Bolmn to their collections at no cost. The game is normally priced at around $1.00 USD, so it will not be the biggest save of the month. Still, free is free, and it could be an opportunity for fans of 3D platformers to try something new without spending any money.

The replay value of Bolmn might not be that high compared with other indie platformers on Steam, mainly because it doesn't seem to have many collectibles. That said, some obstacles require creative thinking, encouraging players to interact with objects and use them to reach the next area. For instance, the Kirby-like protagonist might throw an object at a wall to create a noise and distract a guard blocking the path. Still, players shouldn't expect anything overly complicated, as Bolmn is a bite-sized indie game.
One game has officially confirmed that it will be free on Steam in August. Dokimon Quest, a Pokemon-like title, is set to remove its price on August 24 for two days, giving fans of creature-collecting games a chance to add it to their libraries. As for the Epic Games Store promotions, two games have been confirmed to go free on August 27: Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition. The platform is also giving away Cardpocalypse Standard Edition at the time of writing.
Recent backend data also suggests that Steam has three freebies lined up for its October free-to-keep promotions. The offers include MXGP 26 - Scrubdesignz Liveries, Gear.Club Unlimited 3 Signature Pack, and Hunting Simulator 3 - Classic American Hunter Pack. However, there is currently no official word on when they will receive the 100% discount, so fans will need to stay tuned for an official announcement.
