Diablo 4's Season of Hell's Legacy began over two weeks ago following a banner BlizzCon, but its launch has been surprisingly wobbly. The season initially suffered a multi-hour delay thanks to log-in errors and server issues, but Blizzard has apologised to players using the power of gifts.
As reported by Icy Veins, a number of players logged into Diablo 4 to see they've received a Resplendent Spark, one of the game's rarest crafting materials.
Through the in-game Horadric Post mailing system - ironically added with the new season, players logged in to see a thank you note alongside the gift. "We're sorry for any unexpected issues you may have experienced," the message reads. "Thank you for standing with us. Please accept this token of appreciation for our journey ahead."
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that everyone received the gift, even if they may have received the apology message. Players on Reddit theorise only those who were affected by the season's launch issues - such as not being able to claim a Resplendent Spark from the seasonal progression track, actually received the gift. That said, the note is clear about a gift being enclosed, so those left out may have simply run into a server issue.
Resplendent Sparks are one of the most coveted items in Diablo 4. Players typically spend hours grinding challenging endgame content to get a single one. They're used in crafting Mythic Unique weapons and gear - the most powerful in the game.
Although things have stabilised in the days since, launch issues also extended to gameplay mechanics, such as The Tree of Whispers failing to display rewards. As it stands, all outstanding problems have been addressed in patches and hotfixes released in the days following the season's launch.
