Sons of the Forest is the open world follow-up to 2018's The Forest. Originally released in early access in 2023 before officially launching in 2024, Sons of the Forest lets players work alone or together with up to seven additional players to survive after being stranded on a cannibal-infested island. Players are given a great deal of freedom in choosing how to play, and those choices can lead to different outcomes, with multiple potential endings to the game.

Unfortunately for fans of the survival game genre on other platforms, it doesn't look like they should expect Sons of the Forest to arrive anytime soon. When Forest 3 was revealed, gamers took the opportunity to reinforce their desire to see Sons of the Forest on PS5. However, given that the development team has shifted its focus towards the sequel, it seems unlikely that a port will happen for the foreseeable future. For the time being, PC is the only option for fans who want to check out the sequel, while the original The Forest launched on PS4 back in 2018.
