Capcom Highlights at TGS 2026: Mega Man and Dragon’s Dogma

Capcom Highlights at TGS 2026: Mega Man and Dragon’s Dogma

Like Sega, Capcom has been a consistent highlight at Tokyo Game Show, and this year was no different. While it didn’t have heavy hitters on the level of Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem to show, the titles it did bring were quite strong nonetheless. Out of everything that was available, this writer spent most of his time with two titles: Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen and Mega Man: Dual Override.

I also had a chance to try the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 remakes on Switch 2, but there’s really not much to say there. They were the same fantastic games that they were on other platforms, but now on Switch 2. I will say, though, that both games ran without any loss of quality as compared to other platforms, making Switch 2 a great option for those who somehow don’t already have the games on another modern platform. As for the other titles, read on!

This writer spent about an hour in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, with the demo taking me to three different encounters seen during different portions of the expansion. The first was an encounter with a griffin outside a small village. I played the fighter class and noted that it was easier to engage with the enemy and use my skill than it was with the base version of Dragon’s Dogma 2. I also noticed that the pawns were much more aggressive when ordered to attack and overall responded better to commands than before.

I haven’t played Dragon’s Dogma 2 since launch, so I cannot say with certainty whether this is actually new or not.

The second portion took place in a frozen ruin found in the new Norgan region. This portion introduced the “chilled” status effect and offered a tutorial on how to manage it. Watching it was a simple matter, though, so it had little impact on the experience. The highlight was a new story boss: some kind of undead dragon that spewed goop capable of spawning additional undead. It was a touch more difficult than the griffin, but not terribly so, so long as the extra mobs were kept in check.

The final encounter was against an ice dragon by the name of Fimbul. It seemed intent on “releasing” my Arisen, which would have been fine if “release” hadn’t been synonymous with “death” in its mind. I played as an archer for this encounter, which I fear was something of a mistake since the fight took all the way to the last second of my demo to clear.

Maintaining aim on Fimbul was a real challenge, as the auto-targeting didn’t seem to want to lock onto him. Thank goodness the pawns knew what they were doing, or I doubt I would have finished the fight in time. That minor gripe aside, the new content was interesting, and Norgan looked fun to explore, so it’s likely that Dragon’s Dogma 2 fans are going to enjoy this expansion quite a bit.

In keeping with the theme of delivering more of a good thing, Capcom was also showing its next Mega Man game at TGS 2026: Mega Man: Dual Override. It’s pretty much a new, numbered Mega Man game in all but name, but there is one big difference: players have the option of playing through the game as Proto Man if they want, and he differs greatly from the ol’ Blue Bomber.
