Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover manga ended its run in 2026, following the events of the Judgment Day arc. With the story having released its final volumes, the only medium that fans are looking forward to is the anime adaptation, handled by Studio Pierrot. After having been on hiatus for 5 years, Black Clover is finally returning next week, on October 3, 2026, much to the delight of millions of fans all over the world.
This comeback is easily one of the most awaited returns of the year, but now, a big Issue has presented itself. While fans believed Black Clover Season 2 would be followed by one more season, it has now been confirmed that this upcoming season is going to mark its official end. With 123 chapters left to adapt and only 26 episodes to go, we're all concerned about the pacing of the series moving forward.
Black Clover's anime first debuted on October 3, 2017. However, due to the production schedule, it had to go on hiatus on March 30, 2021, as Studio Pierrot, the studio behind it and hits like Naruto and Bleach, ran out of manga content to adapt. Yuki Tabata's story slowed down due to his health issues, and the anime had to take a break to allow him to move forward at his own pace.
Now, with the manga having ended on May 1, 2026, with the release of Chapter 392 in Jump GIGA’s Spring edition, Studio Pierrot is going all in to finish the Black Clover anime. At Jump Festa 2025, the anime's return was officially announced, and now, we only have 1 week until Black Clover Season 2 debuts on October 3, 2026.
Even though the new anime season debuts in just a couple of days, there is still a lot of information we don't know about it. For starters, it has been revealed that, most likely, Black Clover Season 2 will feature 26 episodes. Furthermore, we now know that this season is about to be split into two cours, each likely being 13 episodes, as is usually the norm with seasonal anime. Black Clover Season 2 Part 1, which is premiering soon, is going to cover the events of the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, which sees Asta and the others go all out to save Yami, the Captain of the Black Bulls.
Meanwhile, Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 is where the shocking part comes in. Fans assumed the second part of Season 2 would simply take the story to the Hino Country arc. That doesn’t seem to be the case, though, as Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 is titled “The Final Season.” This is confirmation that Black Clover Season 2 Part 2, which premieres in 2027, is going to fully adapt the remainder of the Black Clover manga, including its finale, known as the Judgment Day arc.
While many fans assumed Black Clover would end its anime run with a third anime season of around 10 to 12 episodes to flesh out Judgment Day, it now seems pretty clear the studio plans to fit everything in one season. Naturally, fans are deeply concerned. Fitting three arcs in 26 episodes is a daunting task for any Studio to undertake. For context, Black Clover ended its previous anime run with episode 170, which adapted Chapter 270 of the manga. Meanwhile, Yuki Tabata concluded Black Clover with the final batch released on May 1, 2026, which covered Chapters 390, 391, and 392. This technically leaves 122 chapters unadapted.
It must also be added that Tabata released one extra special chapter on August 4, 2026, with the publication of Black Clover Volume 38 and the latest guidebook, Perfect Grimoire. This means that, in one season, Studio Pierrot will have to adapt 123 chapters if they also include the extra chapter. Per episode, this translates to about 5 chapters of content to adapt. For proper pacing, ideally, 3 chapters is the perfect balance, and even less for dialogue-heavy chapters.
