Dragon Ball fans are eating good, and when 2027 comes around, Android fans are going to be eating even better. Not that there's ever a bad time to be a Dragon Ball fan, but there's plenty of upcoming Dragon Ball projects in the works to keep fans excited.
The biggest right now, of course, is the upcoming remake of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. Set to release on October 11, it covers a recut and enhanced version of the God of Destruction Beerus arc (also known as Battle of Gods), the Golden Frieza arc, and the Universe 6 Tournament arc, alongside newly added cuts, redrawn character artwork, and more. The overarching direction is to make the narrative structure of these Dragon Ball Super arcs even more faithful to the original manga by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou. But beyond this release (and the eventual return of the manga), the biggest release is Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, and it's bringing with it new Androids.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 has revealed more details about its character creation system, giving players plenty of ways to build their own fighter. The new “Fight Your Own Way” trailer introduces six playable races: Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Frieza Race, Majin, and the newly added Android. As fans know, the first five are core races from Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, but this is the first time playable Androids have been introduced in this subfranchise. Across all 6, players can customize their fighter's appearance, inherit powerful techniques from Super Fighters, and choose a fighting style based on the movement and abilities of 130 different heroes.
Unfortunately, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment didn't go into the nitty-gritty details about these races. It's uncertain, as of this writing, how the core five have evolved or changed from Xenoverse 2, for example, nor is it immediately clear how being an Android is different from other races. There are obviously a few points of consideration that should somehow be worked in, but exact details have yet to be revealed. Still, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 releases in 2027, so there's plenty of time.
For those unaware, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 takes place in the unexplored era of Age 1000, introducing a new world and original story created with the work of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Players will explore West City and join the Great Saiya Squad as mysterious events begin to unfold, set well after the story of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and reportedly introducing new Time Gods of Destruction. As always, the story will take players through a new adventure with original characters while allowing them to fight alongside familiar Dragon Ball heroes who previously protected Earth.

The character creation system is designed to let players determine how their fighter looks, fights, and develops throughout the Dragon Ball fighting game. With six races, 130 fighting styles to draw from, and a wide selection of techniques to inherit, there should be plenty of room to create a fighter that feels unique. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is currently scheduled to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2027.
