2026 has given us a constant stream of incredible PlayStation releases, and as we head into the final few months of the year, things don't look to be slowing down. There are still so many major games on the horizon, most notably GTA 6, but in October, it seems like every other day we're going to be getting a new toy to play with across just about every genre imaginable.
There are a bunch of sequels and series revivals ranging from shooters to RPGs, standalone adventures in existing IPs, and a couple of new faces that many people have been dying to play for years. Whatever you're into, there is bound to be an incredible game for you to enjoy on PS5 this October.

From seasoned developers who previously worked on games like Dragon's Dogma and Resident Evil 6, Stupid Never Dies is a stylish ARPG that never takes itself too seriously. You play Davy, a timid zombie fighting through a monster-infested dungeon in the hope of reviving a frozen human girl named Julia.
Along the way, you will unlock and acquire a whole host of wacky abilities. By eating enemies, you can steal their powers, and the Body Hack mechanic lets different parts and equipment modify your body, turning you from a frail undead into an unstoppable force. In a sea of darker, more intense ARPGs, I find it nice to see something a little more lighthearted that is all about having fun and jamming out to the music.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is the first mainline entry in the series in seven years, and Bandai Namco is leaning heavily into realistic visuals and proprietary technology to deliver a virtual flight experience unlike any other. The story unfolds in 2029 in the Strangereal universe over the course of countless in-flight missions and on-the-ground interactions with a whole new cast of characters.
For longtime fans, you can even access Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War with the preorder, a nice bonus for those who have waited many years for another numbered mainline entry. Based on the early previews, Ace Combat 8 looks to be a new high for the series, and a real contender for one of the best games of the year.
