After hours of speculation and leaks, Rockstar Games has just officially revealed the Grand Theft Auto 6 collector's edition, which costs $400 and doesn't actually feature the game.
For some time now, GTA 6 fans have wondered whether Rockstar was going to bother releasing a collector's edition of the game. After all, there isn't even a proper physical edition , so it wouldn't really make too much sense to get a bunch of goodies together. That all changed earlier today when wishlists were spotted on the Rockstar Store.
Those wishlists suggested that something called the "Grand Theft Auto 6: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection" was going to go up on the Rockstar Store and suggested a collector's edition was actually happening. That's just been confirmed to be the case, and the edition itself is mighty expensive considering it doesn't include the game itself.
Over on Twitter, the official Rockstar Games account revealed the news we'd all been waiting for - GTA 6 is getting a collector's edition, and it's exactly what we all assumed it'd be. Pre-orders for the Grand Theft Auto 6: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection have just gone live on the Rockstar Store at a whopping $400/ £350, which is a little eye-watering with no game included.
As painful as that is, though, the "premium collectible set" is pretty stacked with goodies that somewhat justifies the high price point. The first item in the collection is a Macca the Gator figure, which has a twist-open base for you to stash things in (a Rockstar tradition at this point). Then there's a pair of Oakley Frogskins Sunglasses with a Vice City colouring and logo.
When it comes to clothing and accessories, the collection also includes a Leonida Keys Crossbody Bag with a bunch of patches, and a New Era 9FORTY Snapback Hat featuring Macca and some Leonida signage. There are also some bizarre items, like a Macca the Gator Magnetic Mirror, and a Chunkee the Manatee Shot Glass, a Vice City Collectible Swizzle Spoon, and a Vice City Razor Blade Keychain.
There's currently no sign of the other merch mentioned in the leaks, but it looks like it's definitely coming at some point.
Finally, the collection includes some pins in an enamel tin, a sticker pack in a stash bag, and a poster with a double-sided map that I fear is the only way we'll actually get a physical map for GTA 6. Overall, it's a pretty tidy package and one that's very similar to what we got for Red Dead Redemption 2, for better or worse.
