PlayStation’s September 3 State of Play gave us another look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, showing off tons of new gameplay, the open world, and announcing the release date.
After being revealed during Summer Games Fest, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has become one of the most anticipated games of 2027. The third and final game in the FF7 remake trilogy is set to wrap up the story of Cloud and co. in their battle against Sephiroth.
Square Enix has been sharing details about the follow-up to 2024’s Rebirth, but the PlayStation State of Play offered fans an in-depth look at what the devs have in store and finally confirmed when fans will get their hands on the game.
The State of Play ended with a release date trailer, revealing that Final Fantasy Revelation launches on April 8, 2027, just over three years on from Rebirth.
This was followed by an extended gameplay showcase, which gave us a glimpse at how we’ll be travelling the open world. Cloud and his party can navigate around using the airship, and then seamlessly jump to the ground.
Once landed, the series’ iconic Chocobo companions return to help you traverse, and you can even engage in combat while mounted. There’s also a grapple hook to allow characters to quickly zip up to rooftops and between buildings.
The footage also dug a little deeper into the new FITS system, which assigns party members a unique role based on the outfit they’re wearing. There are four different options: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner.
It showed Vincent wearing the Summoner, which granted him the power to pull off powerful synergies with summoned entities.
