Blood of Dawnwalker allows you to play as a human by day, but by night you are a bloodthirsty vampire.
You need to drink blood at night to restore your health and prevent yourself from mindlessly attacking humans, but drinking blood will increase your Corruption. Sounds like a bad thing, but is it? Well, not really.
In this guide, we’re breaking down exactly what it means to have Corruption, and why you might want to increase it more quickly in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
Corruption is a strange stat, mostly because it seems like something you should shy away from, but actually, increasing your Corruption stat is a good idea.
Each time you drink blood or use Vampirism abilities, you’ll earn more Corruption, which sounds bad. Yes, in terms of in-game lore, it indicates that you’re becoming more of a monster. In terms of game mechanics, Corruption is making you more powerful.
Many abilities in the Vampirism tree cannot be fully upgraded or even unlocked until you increase your Corruption. If you want to be as powerful as possible when fighting by moonlight, then you’ll want to increase your Corruption, consequences be damned (and there won’t be many consequences, as long as you keep your health topped up before interacting with humans).
The most obvious way to increase your Corruption is by drinking blood. This includes using the Voracious Bite technique on enemies and animals. You can also use it from Focus Mode before a human spots you for a “stealth” takedown, assuming you’re not seen draining them.
While taking out Brencis’ Boyars, you will also be able to interrupt their blood transports and stores. In the process, you can also collect and drink this blood yourself, greatly increasing your rate of Corruption.
