A new Bloodborne release is on deck for 2027. The Bloodborne video game was first released in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Developed by FromSoftware, Bloodborne offers a familiar but more aggressive take on the company's Soulsborne formula and a stunningly gruesome Lovecraftian horror world to explore. Bloodborne earned widespread critical acclaim and is often hailed as one of the absolute best games from FromSoftware.
Unfortunately, Bloodborne has never received a native release on any other platform. The game is playable on PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility, but it is otherwise trapped on the PS4. There have been petitions begging PlayStation to release a Bloodborne PC port, but nothing to that effect has ever been announced. It doesn't seem like there will be any major Bloodborne game announcements at any point in the near future, but the game lives on through other means.
Despite the fact that there have been no new Bloodborne game releases since the original and its Old Hunters DLC dropped in 2015, new merchandise is still released on a semi-regular basis. One interesting upcoming piece of official merch is a foldable 8-rib umbrella based on Bloodborne's Childhood's Beginning ending. The Bloodborne umbrella from Super Groupies boasts a jet black color scheme, an outer canopy adorned with Caryll Runes, an inner canopy with references to the Childhood's Beginning ending, an infant Great One on the tie wrap, and a cover with the Bloodborne logo. The umbrella costs $125.99 and pre-orders are available now. Delivery is expected mid-April 2027.

The Bloodborne umbrella may be of interest to hardcore fans, but some may be wanting something more substantial. Unfortunately, there is no news on the Bloodborne video game front to report, but the game is at least getting a movie. Sony Pictures is teaming with jacksepticeye and Lyrical Animation to release an adult animated Bloodborne feature film. Further details on the Bloodborne movie are unavailable at the time of this writing, but video game movies are currently enjoying a moment and so hopefully it can keep the hot streak going strong.
Still, there are undoubtedly those out there that don't care about the Bloodborne movie, the umbrella, or any other merch based on the game. For the sake of those Bloodborne fans, hopefully something new is announced in the relatively near future. While many would want to see a proper Bloodborne sequel or a PC port, others would settle for a PS5 version. Bloodborne is still only playable in 30 FPS, even when playing the game on PS5, and so there would definitely be worthwhile upgrades to pursue. A full-blown remaster or remake may be preferable at this point, but even a simple upgrade patch would go a long way in satisfying fans.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to community events like Bloodborne's Return to Yharnam and upcoming FromSoftware titles like The Duskbloods. The Duskbloods being a multiplayer-focused Switch 2 exclusive has understandably soured some on it, but the core gameplay does look like it might still scratch that Bloodborne itch.
