The Complete Edition of Ghost of Yotei introduces a ton of new content, both through its Most Wanted mode and its DLC story expansion. Echoes of Sekigahara sees Atsu exploring a brand-new part of Ezo called the Ashoro Foothills and will take most players around seven hours to fully complete.
In addition to the main story, there are numerous side quests for players to complete, as well as new bounties, cosmetics, and collectibles to track down. This guide will go over all of the new content in the Ghost of Yotei story DLC, as well as how to unlock the 12 Echoes of Sekigahara Trophies.
The main story of Echoes of Sekigahara is broken up into seven missions. To get started, you'll need to examine the poster of Nagato the Handsome on Kojiro's bounty board. The last mission will only become available once you've defeated all of the Snake Contenders found throughout the Ashoro Foothills, meaning you'll need to engage with a fairly significant chunk of the side content in order to see the story expansion's true ending.
Echoes of Sekigahara introduces a new Mythic Tale called the Wolf's Chosen, which is centered around Atsu's wolf companion and a fearsome foe called Heartless Tatari. You can trigger the quest by finding the wolf within the Shrouded Claw area of the Ashoro Foothills. Defeating Tatari across all of the subsequent locations will unlock The Wolf's Chosen Armor, which has one of the best armor abilities in the game, so it's worth tackling this one sooner rather than later. Killing an enemy with the Call of the Pack ability will also unlock the Pack Hunter Trophy.
The Tree of Remembrance can also be found in the Shrouded Claw area, and is where you'll find a former soldier struggling with the ghosts of his past. Defeat him, then do so again at the Humble Homestead and Waterside Rest areas (both will be marked on your map after the first encounter), and you'll unlock one final showdown with Nobushige the Unbreakable at Toshibetsu Falls. Beat him there, and you'll be rewarded with the Helmet and Mask of the Unbroken, as well as the Unbreakable Trophy.
Just to the North of Ashoro Springs is a gambling house called Fortune's Asobiya, where you can trigger the A Mother's Love quest. To complete it, you'll need to beat the Madam in three Zeni Hajiki games, each of which introduces a new rule. Between each game, you'll need to complete a short fetch quest, but both of these are relatively straightforward. After winning the third game, you'll be given a childhood memento and the Charm of Drunken Focus. You'll also unlock the Mother of Misfortune Trophy.
There are four Viper Storehouses dotted around the foothills. When you find one, kill all of the vipers there and then use a heavy weapon to break open the storehouse door. You'll get the Charm of Smashing after securing the first storehouse, and securing the rest will increase its power level, as well as unlock the Food for the People Trophy and the Deep Hunger Mask. You can also find Viper Rations inside the storehouses (don't worry, you can go back and grab these if you miss them the first time around), and if you return to each storehouse after Kihei's cooking tutorial in Ashoro Springs, you'll be able to find the four recipes needed to unlock the Hungry for More Trophy (although there are other recipes elsewhere).
When it comes to collectibles and points of interest, there are five Altars of Reflection, two fox dens, two pillars of the fallen, two hot springs (you'll visit a third as part of the main story), two bamboo strikes, and one Shrine (which you'll also visit as part of the main story). One of the Altars of Reflection is in the Colorful Dye Grounds (where you can use Viper Rations to unlock new dye trade routes and the Paths to Color Trophy), and there's another at the Nishimura Slaughterhouse. Before tackling any of this, though, you should free the Golden Bird from the cage at the Vipers' camp to the west of the Akan Woodlands, as the bird will then guide you toward collectibles, just like it does in the base game. Plus, freeing it will unlock the Free Bird Trophy.
