Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is getting a demo—and you can carry progress over to the full game

Fans will get to try the game free of charge two weeks ahead of schedule.

In just a couple of weeks, players will finally be able to get their hands on the new Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. The game is getting an official demo, which comes out exactly two weeks before the full thing, and you’ll even be able to transfer your progress.

Konami confirmed the news today, announcing that Belmont’s Curse will get a proper free-to-play demo starting Oct. 1. It will be just 4GB in size on Steam, while PS5 and Xbox will need to set aside 6 and 5GB, respectively.

While Konami has not yet disclosed how long or extensive the demo will be, the screenshots provided indicate it should be similar in scope to what I played in June during my preview in Paris. It had three boss fights and several stages, as well as a plethora of puzzles and secrets to explore, totaling a little over three hours.

It’s been a few months since then, though, so Konami could have expanded it with content beyond the main gate (you’ll know what I mean when you see it).

What is most interesting is that you will be able to transfer progress from the demo over to the full release, provided you played both on the same platform, so no demoing the game on PC to progress your PS5 copy.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is coming out on Oct. 15, with the demo set to launch 14 days prior on Oct. 1.
