On September 27, 2026, One Piece made its grand return with chapter 1194, released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #44. This chapter is highly anticipated, especially given all the breaks that the manga has endured recently. Previously, One Piece chapter 1193 finally took the attention away from the battle against Imu and focused on the Holy Knights' fights, involving the likes of Zoro and Sanji instead.
This pattern is going to continue in the next few chapters, but unfortunately, fans are going to have to endure a lot of breaks in between. While One Piece returned from a break on September 27, it is immediately going on break once again, this time stemming from the author Eiichiro Oda himself.
One Piece chapter 1194 was released on September 27, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44. This chapter was incredibly important in the grand scheme of things, as fans expected it to give some continuity to the manga following yet another break after the release of chapter 1193. While this chapter was certainly exciting, it was also very short. Usually, One Piece chapters are 17 pages long, but One Piece 1194 featured only 13 pages, which was largely disappointing for the fans.
What's even worse is that it was announced at the end of the chapter that Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the series, would be taking a break, which means that fans will have to wait 2 more weeks before they get another One Piece chapter. The last few months have been incredibly rough for One Piece fans because of all the breaks that have come in between chapter releases. One Piece chapter 1194 is no different in that regard and will be followed by yet another break.
Under normal circumstances, One Piece chapter 1195 would be released on October 4, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 45. Now, it has been confirmed that One Piece is going to skip Issue #45 of the magazine entirely and will return in the issue that is released the following week. The primary reason for this break is Oda's health. Clearly, Oda is struggling with some health-related issues right now, and the fact that this week's chapter is only 13 pages long, despite Oda coming off of a break, is further proof of that. Hopefully, following the two-week break, Eiichiro Oda will make a comeback stronger than ever before.
While the latest chapter was released on September 27, 2026, One Piece chapter 1195 is now slated to be released on October 11, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #46. Quite clearly, the wait for the return of the One Piece manga is quite long, but given the exciting events that are currently unfolding in Elbaf, it most certainly looks like the wait will be worth it.
Fans might be confused as to why Oda is taking so many breaks as of late. Technically, Oda goes on a break after every 3 chapters, but whenever his involvement in some new project is highlighted, he goes on a break after every 2 chapters instead. More recently, One Piece announced its Film God Valley Project, and it is widely reported that this project has seen the author's involvement as well. At the same time, Oda is deeply involved in One Piece live-action Season 3, which often sees him take some extra breaks. Added to that is the fact that Oda is struggling with some health-related issues, which is only a given since he has worked on One Piece for almost 3 decades now.
For all these reasons, Eiichiro Oda has been taking constant breaks. It also happens that Weekly Shonen Jump has endured 2 major breaks from their end as well, due to the Obon Festival and then Silver Week. These 2 breaks have further compounded Oda's break schedule, which would otherwise have been much smoother. Regardless, One Piece is making its comeback with chapter 1195 on October 11, 2026, and it is expected to go on a run from there onwards.
