Naughty Dog fans, pick up your ears - it's been a busy night for fans of the PlayStation studio. First of all, in a letter celebrating The Last of Us Day 2026, studio head Neil Druckmann confirmed that two new projects within The Last of Us universe are in the "very early stages" of development at Naughty Dog.
"Since [The Last of Us Part 2 documentary] Grounded 2, we've talked about the possibility of telling more stories in the world of The Last of Us," Druckmann said in a message. "We have a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages—so we can't say much about them at this point. I will tell you that both projects will expand the canon of The Last of Us beyond [The Last of Us Part 1] and [The Last of Us Part 2].
"The world of The Last of Us means a great deal to us, and we wouldn't return to it unless we had something meaningful to say. We believe these stories are worth telling." It's worth noting that Druckmann never outlines whether these projects are games or not - this could be anything then; more TV, a film, an animation. We'll update you as we learn more.
Elsewhere, the studio shed some light on what's going on with Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The game, which apparently 'shows off a different side of Naughty Dog' was initially shown off back in 2024, and we've heard precious little from the title since then. And it seems that isn't going to change any time soon.
"There's an electricity around the studio right now as all the pieces come together, and we're stoked to finally unveil Intergalactic in all its glory," Druckmann later on in the note. "But… we need to cook for just a little bit longer. So we want to set expectations: we're going to be quiet for the rest of this year. In 2027, that changes. We'll fully reveal Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and give you a proper look at Jordan's wild sci-fi adventure. We know it's been a long time since we've had much to share with you. We don't take your continued support for granted. We're working incredibly hard to make something worthy of your patience."
At least we got some moody, new art to tide us over (above). It shows protagonist Jordan, with her trademark sword, looking into a large wooded area that has been taken over by some kind of red alien matter. I hope that's enough to tide you over until we see whatever it is that Naughty Dog has been cooking next year.
