Mad King Redemption is now available on Xbox Game Pass, having joined several of its tiers on September 23. The distinctive-looking genre hybrid is the 11th new title to reach Xbox Game Pass in September 2026.
Developed by Germany-based Secret Mission Games, Mad King Redemption is a beat-'em-up that combines old-school brawler combat with roguelite progression and 2.5D pixel art graphics. At its core, players are tasked with overcoming randomized combat encounters as one of four heroes, gradually unlocking new abilities and other meta progression upgrades between runs. Their goal is to confront the titular mad king, whose attempt to resurrect his queen using forbidden magic plunged the in-game realm into chaos. Secret Mission's latest title supports both solo play and two-player local co-op, with each character offering a distinct fighting style and progression path.
Mad King Redemption's Xbox Game Pass debut arrives four months following the game's early access launch. Because it is not a day-one release, the beat-'em-up roguelite is available through both the Ultimate and Premium tiers, as well as Xbox Game Pass. Xbox users without an eligible Game Pass membership can purchase Mad King Redemption outright for $14.99, which has been the case since the title launched on the Xbox Store on August 23.
Mad King Redemption is the penultimate brand-new title in the Xbox Game Pass September 2026 lineup. It will be followed by a decidedly different type of dungeon crawler in Minecraft Dungeons 2, which is due to debut on September 29.
