Hello Kitty largely remains the face of the Sanrio brand, but the bow-wearing character actually isn't the most popular with fans worldwide. Each year, the Sanrio Character Ranking poll asks people to cast their vote for their favorite personality, and for 2026, Pompompurin took home the top prize, with Cinnamoroll coming in second and Pochacco coming in third. Other wildly popular characters like Kuromi, My Melody, and the aforementioned Hello Kitty did appear in the top 10, with lesser known faces like SWEETCORON, Pannapitta, and Sportingbears rounding out the final three spots.
From November 20, 2026, until January 17, 2027, Cinnamoroll fans can enjoy a massive event celebrating the popular character at Gallery AaMo in Tokyo Dome City. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a giant Cinnamoroll slide measuring almost 40 feet in length and 13 feet high, which all guests can enjoy. Special events include a classical music exhibit inspired by the character, along with fortune-telling and a sneak-peak at one of the mini-games from the upcoming Hello Kitty Party Land game. Visitors will also find plenty of photo spots perfect for social media enthusiasts.
Exclusive goods, including plushies, headbands, stickers, and more, will only be available during this limited period, and tickets to the exhibition will cost ￥2,200 (around $14) for adults, with those planning on visiting able to choose a dedicated date and time. A food truck at the venue will offer themed crepes in banana chocolate, strawberry, or caramel pudding flavors, along with hot chocolate for those looking to warm up on a chilly winter's day. Headlining the collaboration is the 47th Coca-Cola Suzuka Eight Hours Endurance Road Race, which was held at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan, on July 5, 2026. In August, McDonald's locations in the US rolled out a line of Happy Meal toys combining popular Sanrio characters with familiar beasts from the Godzilla franchise.
