Where the Cat and Wolf Play is an optional quest in The Witcher 3 that revolves around a massacre in the village of Honorton. As Geralt investigates the scene, he discovers that another witcher is responsible for the deaths, but the circumstances behind the attack are more complicated than they initially appear. This guide covers the investigation, all major choices, and the rewards you can obtain.
After picking up the Contract: The Beast of Honorton, you will need to visit Honorton, which is located east of Claywich or west of Boatmaker's Hut.
Once you arrive at the village, you will find several necrophages. Deal with them, and the quest Where the Cat and Wolf Play will begin. Geralt will then need to use his Witcher Senses to investigate what happened here.
There are four search markers on the map. At the barn, you can find several bodies, one of which Geralt will notice is not a peasant. You can also find a pitchfork here, but be prepared to deal with an alghoul that attacks you while investigating.
Once the area is clear, head to the next house on the right. Inside, you will find a body, a stove you can interact with, and the head of a Leshen. In another nearby hut, you can find a dead dog outside.
While searching around the third hut, a cutscene will play in which a little girl runs past Geralt. Pick up the doll from the ground, then use your Witcher Senses to hear noises coming from the forest. Follow the sound to find the girl.
The girl will initially refuse to tell Geralt anything. You can either use Axii on her or give her the doll to get her to open up. She will explain that someone who looked a lot like Geralt killed everyone in the village, revealing that the culprit was another witcher. She will also give Geralt a medallion. After speaking with her, Geralt will tell her to stay where she is while he investigates further.
Head toward the next marker on the map and use your Witcher Senses to find footprints leading away from the village. Follow the tracks, dealing with any wolves that attack you along the way, until you eventually find the witcher.
