Publisher Focus Entertainment has revealed and released a pretty significant free update for its acclaimed co-op shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, as well as a roadmap for the next year.
To celebrate the PS5 game's second anniversary, a new patch is available for all players, and it adds lots of interesting new content and features.
The main attraction is Chaos Siege mode, a variant on regular Siege mode that lets you play as Chaos Space Marines. "Fight Tyranids, Cadians and loyalist Space Marines alike across two new Siege sectors set on Avarax," read the official patch notes.
A new Crucible system is also introduced; through this, you can equip Penances, which are debuffs and negative modifiers to provide a bigger challenge. Using the Crucible system nets you rewards, of course.
A highly requested weapon is the One-Handed Hammer, and this patch adds it into the mix. The Tactical, Assault, Bulwark, and Techmarine classes are able to use it.
The update adds heroic weapon variants to the Armoury, with three new ones for the Power Axe, Auto Bolt Rifle, and the One-Handed Hammer.
The Tactical class has also been through a rework: "A rework of the Tactical class perks, offering more flexible customisation options to suit your playstyle - whether that’s using two primary weapons, taking down enemies with Gun Strike, or engaging in close combat - as well as an expansion of the Tactical class’s melee weapon arsenal."
On top of this beefy patch is news about the game's content roadmap for year three:
