Krillin has been Goku's best friend since they started training under Master Roshi together in the original Dragon Ball, but it didn't take long for their rivalry to end. Even long before Goku was revealed to be a Saiyan, he was regularly surpassing his best friends and rivals, leaving Krillin in the dust by the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. Krillin has struggled to keep up ever since, but he manages to put in a solid effort throughout Dragon Ball Z.
Krillin does even better depending on the universe, with multiple versions of Goku's best friend going on to become a real powerhouse. Despite being a human, the strongest versions of Krillin across the multiverse can still keep up with Dragon Ball's strongest characters – one has even managed to beat Goku in a fight.
Dragon Ball DAIMA takes place one year after the events of the Majin Buu Saga in an alternate timeline where Dragon Ball Super does not happen. Instead, Gomah uses Earth's Dragon Balls to turn Goku and his friends into children, in order to secure his rule of the Demon Realm. Now that the Z-Fighters are kids again, they're at a serious enough disadvantage where only Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo are actually strong enough to do anything.
Humans like Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, and Master Roshi have no choice but to stay behind on Earth since they're just so weak. Bizarrely, Dragon Ball DAIMA does not give Krillin his actual kid design from the original Dragon Ball. Instead, he's just turned into a shorter version of his adult self. This is an issue Dragon Ball DAIMA has with every character who appeared as a kid in Dragon Ball, however, and not just Krillin.
The Dragon Ball Super manga tries to keep the series' power scaling as close to Akira Toriyama's as much as possible, which unfortunately results in minor characters ending up much weaker in the canon, manga continuity. Manga Krillin's performance is downright embarrassing throughout Dragon Ball Super. He's eliminated in the Tournament of Power before he can even do anything, which is painful considering Goku recruited him for his tournament experience.
Manga Krillin just cannot keep up with the constant threats of God Ki throughout the multiverse. He's at his best functioning as a ground level hero who can take out more personal threats. Being a cop is honestly a waste for someone with Krillin's Power Level, but the manga has made it very clear the best he can do is offer minor assistance. Manga Krillin's showing against Cell Max isn't nearly as impressive as his Anime counterpart.
Supersonic Krillin may not be his strongest variant, but he is far and away the coolest. Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors is a GBA fighting game where every playable character has their own What If story mode where they become the main character. In Supersonic Krillin's story mode, Goku ends up dying for good while fighting the Androids, but not before passing the torch of Earth's protector onto Krillin.
