After completing the prologue and entering New York, Dylan will need to make it to the Central zone by powering up the Central Checkpoint during the Welcome to Manhattan quest in Control Resonant. While the objective states you'll need to move the charge up to the Central Checkpoint, completing it can get a bit tricky, as it's the first time players will be introduced to Aberrant's ability to carry an electric charge.
One of the objectives of Welcome to Manhattan story mission will be to power up the Central Checkpoint in Control Resonant, which shows up after Dylan heads out to investigate a missing maintenance worker. The tricky part of the quest is that Dylan's Aberrant can only carry the electric charge for a short duration, so the path you select from one battery to another must be the shortest.
I've mapped out the path on the path above. Now, I'll get into explaining the entire run to help players complete this objective with ease.
Hit the charged battery to transfer its energy to the Aberrant. Next, move down the street and strike the battery beneath the pillar to store the charge inside it. This step is crucial because it resets Dylan's charge-carrying timer. Now, head to the road on the right and enter the alleyway that'll come up on your left.
If you take too long, the charge will dissipate from the Aberrant and revert to the previous battery.
Now, you'll enter a courtyard where you'll spot an empty battery sitting next to a garage. Strike it to store the charge temporarily, and the shutters will be open. You can report the corpse of the maintenance worker inside to Zoe, and then get back to taking the charge to power up the Central checkpoint in Control Resonant.
Once you transfer the charge back to the Aberrant, head up the scaffolding I've marked above and jump across to the building on the right. On top of said building, you'll find another empty battery to store the charge in temporarily. Next, take the charge back and head across the rooftops and drop into the FBC testing facility structure I've marked above.
There's another empty battery on the platform marked with yellow tape that you can store the charge in. After this, all you need to do is take the charge back, head down the street towards the Central checkpoint, and transfer the charge to its final destination.
