Update [Wed 26th Aug 2026, 7:45pm]: Apologies to the Train Sim World 7 team, as I made a minor blunder with this article.
I skimmed through last night’s Dovetail Direct – which I have to say was excellently produced – as it went live in the aftermath of Gamescom Opening Night Live.
As a result, I actually overlooked the release date for the Tadami Line, which is now set as 29th September.
So technically my original headline was correct: the seventh game in the series is coming before this Japanese route, which was announced alongside Train Sim World 4.
But it’s only a two week difference, so I apologise for initially missing that.
Original Story: There was an air of inevitability to all this really, I suppose.
It’s almost September, which means a new Train Sim World game is right around the corner, this time Train Sim World 7. (At some point we might have to start writing the number in words like when a football team suffers a particularly heavy loss.)
I wrote in July about how my most anticipated route, the Japanese Tadami Line, was coming soon. But it got delayed at the last minute, and while dev Dovetail has been sharing updates, it looks like it’s not going to make it out before 15th September, when the new edition launches.
