The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta is in full swing and while it's normal for players to experience bugs and limited content during these events, Infinity Ward is actively patching and improving the experience for players. After being revealed back in May, Infinity Ward has continued to ramp up the available information and marketing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 ahead of the game's October launch.
While the Call of Duty series is no stranger to beta tests prior to launch, Infinity Ward seems to have big plans for Modern Warfare 4. The Early Access beta period for Modern Warfare 4 officially kicked off on August 21, running through August 25. However, instead of just including a handful of multiplayer maps and modes, this one features a variety of content to dig into including the Entrenched campaign mission. When the Open Beta rolls around on August 28, things will expand even further as the Warzone Resurgence map Zodiac and Ground War will become available alongside the Campaign mission and the various multiplayer modes as well.
There's been a lot of fan feedback already after just the first day of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Early Access beta, a fact acknowledged by Infinity Ward. Instead of saving the feedback for a future build of the game or the Day 1 Update, Infinity Ward is actively patching the game to make improvements while also adding new content and features on the fly. For example, the August 22 update has added in a bunch of new quality of life enhancements, such as allowing fans to reroll daily challenges, as well as finally enabling the map voting feature, since there are now 4 maps available in the beta.
The Cachette map is the latest addition to the game's base content during the beta, a 6v6 core map that features an abandoned warehouse sitting on the outskirts of a French rail system. In addition, Inflation has joined the other 9 game modes already available within the Modern Warfare 4 beta. According to Infinity Ward, players will need to eliminate enemies in order to collect cash. High value target operators, typically the richest players in the match, will be marked and drop their cash when defeated. Survive the overtime period to earn increased cash multipliers.

One constant struggle with the past few game releases has been with the audio. Call of Duty footstep audio and spatial awareness have continued to get tweaks over the years, and now, Modern Warfare 4 is also in that same boat. It has been a big point of contention with players so far and with this update, Infinity Ward has reduced the distance at which enemy footsteps and gear audio can be heard. In addition, the audio volume for both has been decreased, as one of the biggest pieces of feedback is that it was just too loud, ultimately getting muddled and hard to determine where it was coming from.
Even with bug fixes and adjustments to the Time to Kill for the Nightshade and Oris, Infinity Ward isn't done with the adjustments. Another post reveals that another update is planned with another new map called Lithium. Additional bug fixes are planned alongside further audio tuning, more weapon and attachment adjustments, as well as the 3v3 Gunfight game mode. Stay tuned for the full patch notes once that update officially drops.
Our objective for movement audio is to indicate when enemies are approaching without revealing their exact positions at a distance. We’ll continue looking at feedback on this topic throughout the Beta.
