Blood Of Dawnwalker Has Almost 58 Percent Player Crossover With The Witcher 3

Blood Of Dawnwalker Has Almost 58 Percent Player Crossover With The Witcher 3

The Blood of Dawnwalker finally released earlier this month, and it was a pretty massive success for developer Rebel Wolves. A new studio managing to shift one million copies of their debut game is mightily impressive, even if they did have a lot of developers that worked on The Witcher 3, including the director, on its payroll.

That being said, you could also argue that Blood of Dawnwalker would be nowhere near as successful as it was without its roots in The Witcher 3, as has been semi-proven by the analytics firm Alinea Analytics (thanks MP1st).

It was also determined that, based on the same 410,000 sales on Steam, roughly 58 percent of the people that bought Blood of the Dawnwalker had also bought The Witcher 3, making it by far away the highest player crossover of any other game. For example, just 13 percent had also bought Mortal Shell 2, while 9 percent had also bought Onimusha: Way of the Sword.

What does this tell us? Well, it does tell us that The Witcher 3 fans are a loyal sort, and that Blood of Dawnwalker has managed to pinch a sizable chunk of The Witcher's fanbase with this release. It's not all that surprising given the people that make up Rebel Wolves, but 58 percent is very impressive, and probably higher than some full-blown sequels, I imagine.
