Baldur's Gate 3 has had an incredibly active modding scene since Early Access, only growing bigger and better after Larian released official in-game mod support. The community has created so much fantastic content for the game: new customization, spells, enemies, and even entire bonus quests and campaigns.
After months of development, SquallyDaBeanz's Act Two Expansion mod has finally been released, with new fights, items, and an entire new region to explore during the mid-game of Baldur's Gate 3's second act. This has been one of the most anticipated mod releases for the game since its launch, and is a huge example of the quality of content fan creators can make when they're supported.
Baldur's Gate 3 is already a very sizable game, with a single run easily taking up almost 100 hours of game time solo or co-op. After the 'accidental' release of the level design tools for BG3 last year, fans have been mastering the software to create their own custom levels, encounters, even entire campaigns.
The Act Two Expansion is a great example of just how high-quality this content can be, complete with unique NPCs, quests, and around 70 unique items. Replaying through the massive RPG can be a daunting thing, and new area additions like this make it a much brighter prospect, promising new things over the horizon even after multiple runs.

The Sword Coast is so chock-full of colorful characters and engaging scenarios that these random additions feel right at home. Like any proper Dungeons and Dragons campaign, Baldur's Gate 3 is, at its core, a real collaborative experience, and this little modded expansion feels perfectly in that spirit.
Personally, mods have added some of my favorite content into some games, totally elevating them into their own experiences. Mods have long since been important to gaming, with games like Dota and Team Fortress themselves starting as mods for other, official titles. The creativity of mod devs really feels like the only limitation, and I can't imagine certain games without them.
Risk of Rain 2, The Binding of Isaac, and even Slay the Spire, absolute gems, are only elevated by the hard work of fans and devs alike, leading to great synergies and all new mechanics that sometimes even bleed over into sequels or expansions.
